need to put water into the bowl and can simply hold it under a faucet. If you
see the water is discolored or find dirt in the rice, you should rinse properly
so that rice gets clear.
Measuring
water is so important for perfect cooking of rice. The measurement of water can
be varying for different types of grains. The measurement is 1 ¾ cups of water
for 1 cup of white long rice, 1 ½ cups of water for 1 cup of white medium rice,
1 ¼ cups of water for 1 cup of white short grain, 2 ¼ cups of water for 1 cup
of brown long grain. The measurement can
be different for versatile cooking style also.
At this step,
you can add any flavoring if you have any interest to them. Many people use a
little bit of salt, butter or oil also. It totally depends on you.
Now the rice
is ready to be cooked. There are different settings for rice cookers. You can
find different settings for different types of rice and time also. You can
simply set the time and settings for your desired rice.
If the rice
cooker you are using is designed with a cooking pot which is removable, you can
place the pot back into the cooker. Now close the lid and plug the cooker. You
must know the rice will start warming with a setting you set until unplug the
cooker.
Give it the
time for cooking the rice properly. You can wait for 10-15 minutes for that
before removing the lid. Though nowadays most of them are designed with smart
settings and you can simply set the settings. You will find the auto-off
function with them also. While using such a smart item, there is nothing to
worry about timing.
